A note on Bringing Harmony Home
Madhukali Vrind, though located in the capital of central state of India, has visited cities, towns and remote locataions whenever invited by listeners. The choir consists of professionals, students and full time musicians who find time for rehearsals and performances out of their busy schedules. The strength of artistes in any routine performance varies from eighteen to twenty four but on occassions has touched over fifty. For outstation performance Madhukali Vrind offers three options:
A musical performance of one, two or three hours involves transportation of delicate musical instruments and equipment apart from performers themselves. Despite one's limited predictive abilities, one does aim to control future. For a distance of up to 250 kms, the troupe prefers to travel by a chartered bus. In such cases Madhukali choir starts from Bhopal on the same day arriving at destination by lunch-time. Adequate number of double-bedded rooms would be required for the troupe for a night stay. In case the programme ends early, the troupe may also leave for Bhopal the same night. Arrangement for afternoon rest and rehearsals shall have to be made.
Invitations from locations involving rail journey have to be fixed at least a month in advance. Overnight journeys to-and-fro Bhopal may be accepted by Indian Railways AC II sleeper. Air-fare at prevailing rates and incidentals would be charged for travel over 1000 kms.
Madhukali Vrind has a large repertory, right from literary poems to patriotic songs to hymns from Vinay Patrika or bhakti pada-s of Soor, Meera and Kabir. It also renders special theme based performances like Mukti ka Mahyagya. A special programme requested near its first performance ( e.g., Badal Raga) can be accommodated at shorter notice.
Madhukali Vrind can also be invited for presenting / recording need based songs for radio and television productions.
